McDonald’s to deliver whopping profit

admin on Jan 25th 2009

.

IN A complicated financial crisis, it is nice to know that some simple economic truths endure. In a depression, people stop eating out. In a recession, they still eat out, but they don’t go to expensive restaurants.
The global burger leader is set to release its fourth-quarter earnings, and they are expected to be delicious. They go to McDonald’s.27) a share, a gain of 14 per cent over the fourth quarter of 2007.
A poll of analysts by Thomson concluded that McDonald’s will report a fourth-quarter profit of $US83c ($1.
Analysts polled by FactSheet Research said revenue for 2008 was expected to come in at $US23.8 billion for 2007.6 billion, up from $US22.
McDonald’s same-store sales in November were up 4.
It is what analysts call the “trade-down” effect – customers can feed their families at McDonald’s for $US20 instead of twice that at a casual-dining restaurant, such as Applebee’s or Chili’s.8 per cent in Europe and 13.5 per cent in the US, 7.2 per cent across its Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa division.2 per cent across its Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa division. .
It has been said that in a recession, it makes sense to buy or hold the stocks of companies that make things that people eat, drink, smoke or clean with.
The success may be partly attributable to McDonald’s advertising campaigns promising fresher, healthier ingredients than its rivals.
As shares of McDonald’s have risen 10 per cent since this time last year, shares of Burger King Holdings have lost about 7 per cent of their value and shares of Wendy’s/Arby’s Group have lost about 40 per cent. For instance, instead of launching an expensive new chicken line, McDonald’s slaps pickles on a chicken sandwich, calls it “Southern Style” and goes after Chick-Fil-A.
Also, aside from some notable misfires, McDonald’s has been able to pick away at rivals while thriftily sticking to its knitting.
